Earlier this month, local filmmaker Steve Golley presented a check to Stacy Alvord of the Community Action Partnership for more than $2,000 raised by the premiere of his film The Quest for Sadie.
This generous donation completes a two-plus year venture by Golley along with more than 35 volunteers from around Central New York, to capture, produce, and present the film, which debuted November 19 at the Palace Theater in Hamilton. Golley said, "The check isn't just from me. It's from all those who participated in this project." The money raised has been earmarked to help families with fuel oil costs this winter.
Giving back to the community has always been important to Golley, who has participated in, and helped organize, numerous benefits over his 30-year involvement in the Central New York music scene. "I couldn't have done this on my own," says Golley. "To everyone involved, thank you."
